At Durban shopping centre on Friday, a one-month-old baby who was in the car got hijacked.
In the back seat of a white Toyota Yaris, Siwaphiwe Mbambo was, when the car was stolen at a gun point from the mother.
The two hijackers sped off after her monther managed to pull out her 8-year-old son, leaving the Siwaphiwe inside the vehicle. Later, the vehicle was found abandoned after a R250,000 reward offer was proposed for any informatin that would lead to the recovery of the baby.
“Reports indicate that baby Mbambo has been found safe and an arrest has been made,” said Kyle Reenen of Marshall Security on Sunday.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Thulani Zwane verified to TimesLive that the baby was found shortly after midnight on Sunday.
According to Zwane, a suspicious vehicle was stopped and searched on the N3 highway near the Mariannhill toll plaza.
Happily, Baby Siwaphiwe was found inside.

Eyewitness News gave report that three suspects have been arrested, and will face kidnapping and other charges.
