Corrupt Officials have been imprisoned for diverting and selling food
According to Reuters news agency, two Nigerian officials on Thursday in the north-east were sentenced to two years imprisonment for diverting and selling 300 bags of rice that belongs to the displaced people in the northern region.
They were asked by the government to pay 1million naira approximately 3,280 dollars to northeastern, Borno state, as a punishable fined for diverting bags of rice donated by the international aid group.
According to court officials, the bags of rice were donated by the Norwegian Refugee Agency.
They both attested to the Borno state High Court in Maiduguri that they sold the bags for N8,500 each in Mafa town, where they displaced people are.
The region have received several attacks from the Boko Haram and displaced millions of people.
